It's a nice day for a white wedding

Cliche I know, but Saturday 22nd November 2014 was the best day of my life.

I won't bore you with the personal details of the day as I could honestly write about about it for hours on end, but I want to share some of my ideas and the work of the amazing vendors we hired.
The day started bright and early with my bridesmaids, mum, grandma and god-mother. Our hair and make-up was done by the fabulous Emma Coppock (Wedding Belles) who as well as making us all wedding glam ready, she put me at complete ease taking control of the morning ensuring everything ran smoothly and to time - an essential and god send for every bride on the morning of her wedding!

As an essential for any bridal party on the morning of a wedding, the champagne was flowing! Prior to the day, a lovely lady, kindly made me some fabulous glitter colour themed glasses for the bridal party and I to drink our champagne from throughout the morning. Not only did the glasses look fabulous on the photos, they added that touch of glamour to the morning making it that extra bit special (info on how to order glasses at the bottom of the post).

As with any bride, I wanted my wedding to stand out from the crowd. I rehearsed ideas that I hadn't seen used at a wedding I had attended before but that had worked well for other brides. For the reception, I wanted to have some entertainment that was different and would be loved by all guests. This is when I decided on a pianist and magician. Firstly the pianist: I came across Benjamin Clarke whist 'googling' local pianist players in the Lancashire area. I read up on Benjamin's previous work and was very impressed. Without hesitation I confirmed booking and it was one of the best choices I made! Benjamin played on a grand piano situated in the reception room throughout the wedding breakfast which added a fabulous addition and atmosphere to the day. Secondly the magician: family members of mine had attended events where Christopher Hurst had performed his magic and were blown away by his work. Although I hadn't personally seen Chris' work prior to the wedding, I like to work from recommendations which is what I did (and I am so glad I did!). Chris astonished our guests and were talking about him to my husband and I for weeks after the day! If you want to add that little bit of magic to your day, Chris is the man for the job!

For the evening of our wedding we hired the amazing James Barlow AKA The Wedding Singer. James provides a mixture of live singing and DJ'ing which was a great combination during the evening of our wedding. I highly recommend taking a look at James' website to have a listen to some of his work.

The cake! As with pretty much everything for a wedding, cakes can be a great expense for any bride and groom planning their day as well as cakes being a great focal point at the reception and on photos so I felt it was important to be perfect. For a number of years now, my family and I have purchased celebration cakes from an extremely talented lady called Lisa, the owner of Ava Rose Cakes so without hesitation, I knew I wanted Lisa to create our wedding cake. When I began researching ideas I knew I wanted something relatively simple (as I tried to theme the wedding with a simple, chic look) but then again, I wanted the cake to be eye catching.  After alot of pinterest scrolling and a consultation with Lisa, we decided on a final design and look. I was beyond happy with the finished product. The cake was perfect, chic and even better than I had ever imagined.

Last but by no means least, our fantastic venue stylist Mel from Add a Little Sparkle was like my very own wedding day fairy god mother! Although our reception venue was beautifully decorated on it's own, I felt it needed a little personalising to make it fit my dream image for the day. This is where Add a Little Sparkle came in. Nothing was to much trouble for Mel, no idea to eccentric and no vision that couldn't be transformed into reality. After a couple of consultations and emails, discussing ideas, designs and themes a final look for the day was decided. As I mentioned earlier, my vision was to create a simple yet chic look with chandeliers, roses and candles in a mixture of nudes, creams and golds. When I arrived at the reception venue the room was just how I had imagined and more. Mel is quite simply the best!

Embellishments and lace

For a while now I have worked for a local bridal shop, The Bridal Lounge, Poulton wearing their wedding, bridesmaid and prom dresses at wedding fayres. I can't deny, I absolutely love wearing the dresses and showing them off to brides-to-be, what girl wouldn't!?

Today's wedding fayre was no exception. I wore a combination of embellished show stoppers and beautifully elegant lace and chiffon gowns from Maggie Sottero to Ronald Joyce.

All dresses available at the Bridal Lounge, Poulton.

All grey everything

Last night we attended the most fabulous engagement party of some lovely friends. The venue, food & bride-to-be were beyond stunning!
The venue was adorned with tall, white, focal centre pieces, music and even an alcohol luge heart shaped ice sculpture. There was also a photobooth equipt with fancy dress items which was so much fun!
